What inspired you to start your YouTube channel?
I was forever watching YouTube and was just totally infatuated with people like Jaclyn Hill, Chloe Morello, Lauren Curtis etc. and at the time I was having a bit of a mid 20’s crisis lol! I wasn’t feeling happy and was really bored, so one day my boyfriend just said to me “Why don’t you try making videos like that? I think you’d be good at it!” I was so nervous but I thought, well I’ve got nothing else to do so I may as well see what it’s like and the next day I filmed my first video. So it was certainly a combination of my favorite YouTubers and my boyfriend who got me to take that step and start. :-)

What is your favorite thing about being an Influencer?
Being able to connect with people from all over the world would have to be the coolest thing ever! I’ve made so many friendships through YouTube and Instagram that I cherish so much.

How do you like to spend your free time?
I love to just curling up on the lounge with my pups Lily and Mia, with a good cup of tea and a chocolate, watching Netflix =D

What is something your followers don’t know about you?
I love the Sims and whenever I have a good chunk of down time playing it is my guilty pleasure haha!

What is your favorite type of video to film?
I love filming hauls! I just find I get so excited sharing about new products so it’s always a blast filming them.

What do you consider your “signature” makeup look?
I’d have to say a full beat base with minimal eye makeup, a nude or pink lip and some subtle false lashes, pretty much the same as what I’m wearing in my picture :-)

If you could only use one makeup product for the rest of your life what would it be?Mascara!! I couldn’t live without it!

What are your top 3 favorite Sigma products or brushes?
The 3DHD™ Blender is my new obsession, the F05 Small Contour Brush and the E25 Blending Brush.

What inspired you to start your YouTube channel?
What inspired me the most was the fact that I could do what I love which is being a Beauty Influencer and making it an actual career, actually loving what i do and it not feel like work.

What is your favorite thing about being an social media influencer?
My favorite thing about being a social media influencer is how much can you impact someone else life by being an inspiration to them or someone they look up to or aspire to be like one day. At least that’s how I feel about all the influencers I look up to!

How do you like to spend your free time?
I like to spend my free time by cleaning, organizing and watching YouTube!

What is something your followers don’t know about you?
I would LOVE to be the voice of an animated movie one day! Haha just dreaming!

Your looks are always so glamorous; where do you find your inspiration?
Aw, thank you! I mostly get inspiration from other influencers and give it a twist of my own!

My signature makeup look would consist of glowing skin, lashes and brows!

If you could only use one makeup product for the rest of your life what would it be?Probably lashes, I’m just so obsessed!!!

What inspired you to start your YouTube channel?
I was actually studying Nutrition Science at University at the time and absolutely hating it. It just wasn’t what I was passionate about and I felt so lost, like I was just floating through life with no real passion for anything. I’ve always loved makeup and I remember just stumbling across one of Lauren Curtis’s videos and immediately falling in love with her and the whole online beauty community. It was a world I didn’t even know existed and I would just spend all my time watching videos instead of studying. I really didn’t put too much thought into it because I was at such a low point mentally that I just knew it was what I wanted to do. So a few months later I bought a camera and just started filming videos. It was all very spontaneous but the best decision of my life.

What is your favorite thing about being an influencer?
There are so many amazing opportunities that come with being an influencer and I truly appreciate every single one of them, but the ability to connect with people all over the world has been incredible. I’ve made some really amazing life-long friendships that make my heart so full, so that’s definitely my favorite part.

How do you like to spend your free time?
Stalking dogs. Seriously. I’m obsessed with dogs. I recently moved out of my parents house so I had to leave behind our family dogs, Gibson and Lilly. I visit them on weekends, but to fulfill my daily needs I have coffee most mornings at a local dog cafe just so I can pet everyones dogs. I have a problem.

What is something your followers don’t know about you?
I used to play World of Warcraft, like everyday. And I’ve considered starting a Sims YouTube channel.

Your looks are always so glamorous; where do you find your inspiration?
I’m really inspired by Brookelle on Instagram, her looks are incredible. Instagram is just really inspiring in general because there’s so many talented artists sharing their creations. Sometimes I’m inspired by random things though. I took a photo of some flowers last week that really inspired me to do a makeup tutorial. I have a color wheel as well, so if I’m ever stuck for inspiration I use that for color ideas.

What do you consider your “signature” makeup look?
I have a lot of lid space so I love doing cut creases or halo eyes. I just think they are such beautiful eyeshadow styles and you can do so many different color variations. I do love warm eyeshadows the most though, oranges, reds, deep berry tones etc.

If you could only use one makeup product for the rest of your life what would it be?
I actually don’t wear makeup 80% off of the time, so probably concealer. I’m naturally very fair haired so I would get lash extensions so I wouldn’t need mascara, and I’d have my eyebrows tattooed because they’re basically bald. Then I could just use concealer to spot correct any dark circles, blemishes or mix it with moisturizer for a BB cream.. Is that cheating?

What are your top 3 favorite Sigma products or brushes?

The F80 Flat Kabuki brush is my favorite for foundation. And my dream team for cut creases are the E06 Winged Liner and E36 Blending Brush. You’ll slay any cut crease with them, trust me.

What inspired you to start a YouTube channel?
I’ve always had a huge passion for beauty and makeup because of my figure skating background. When I first discovered the beauty community on YouTube, I watched Annie Jaffrey and Zoella constantly. They both inspired me so much – I just love the positivity and inner beauty they both portray. I’m pretty sure I watched through every single one of their videos and at that point, wanted to try creating a video of my own. Granted it was one of the worst videos I’ve ever seen (definitely cringe-worthy lol)… but everyone has to start somewhere, right? 😉

What is your favorite type of video to make?
I love doing Chit Chat GRWM’s, Celebrity-Inspired looks and Everyday Makeup tutorials!

What advice do you have for someone who is thinking about starting a channel?
Be yourself and never give up! I know that may sound cliché, but it’s so true! I’m a firm believer that the best way to stand out amongst the crowd is to be true to who you are. When I first started my channel, I was super shy in front of the camera. I was afraid of what people would think of me while watching my videos, but once I let go of that fear I was able to genuinely be myself on camera. Never ever give up on your goals and aspirations. Dedicate your heart and soul to what you’re passionate about and you will be successful at whatever you put your mind to.

Describe your ideal everyday makeup look.
I’ve been really into “No-Makeup Makeup” looks lately. Concealer, light bronzer and lots of glow!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I’m not sure exactly where I’ll be in 10 years – I just know I want to be happy whatever I’m doing!

What is your best beauty secret?
Water, water, water! Staying hydrated is SO important! I notice a huge difference in my skin and the way my makeup applies when I make sure to stay hydrated. If you know me, I bring my water bottle everywhere I go so I’m constantly hydrating!

You create so many new looks every week; where do you find your inspiration?
I find inspiration from everything around me whether it be fall leaves, celebrity makeup looks, a beautiful sunrise – beauty is all around us!

If you could only use one makeup product for the rest of your life what would it be?
OMG! This is tough. Hmm probably a concealer… I’d have to go with NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer – it’s one of my ride or die products because it’s lightweight and doesn’t budge!

What do you consider your “signature” makeup look?
Bronzed and Glowy Glam!

What are your top 3 favorite Sigma products or brushes?
This one is easy!
Standout Eyes Gel Eyeliner in Wicked
E06 Winged Liner Brush
F42 Strobing Fan
I could not live without ANY of these!

Sigma’s Rising Star: Hailie Barber!

AF_NL_12-19_RisingStar_HailieBarber-02Meet our December Rising Star, Hailie Barber! Hailie is a spunky beauty influencer who loves to play with color and glitter. Keep reading to learn more about our Rising Star, Hailie!

What inspired you to start your youtube channel?
I was inspired to start my YouTube channel just because I loved watching makeup tutorials in my free time. I still do! I was always so fascinated how you can begin looking one way and then completely transform your entire look. Watching makeup tutorials took up a good chunk of my time and I was always practicing makeup and recreating the looks anyway, so I was like, why not give this a shot myself? Best decision I’ve ever made.

What advice do you have for someone who is thinking of starting a channel?
My advice to anyone thinking of starting a channel is to just go for it. Pick a day and sit down and go do it! There is never a “right” time and you don’t need fancy equipment to just start out. You build a following by creating good content, showing passion, and by just being you. There’s nothing to be nervous about – you just gotta do it!

Describe your ideal holiday makeup look?
My ideal holiday look is pretty classic, something bold and smokey with lots of glitter!

Where do you see yourself in ten years?
In ten years I’d like to be working for a makeup company and helping with all the creatives. It’s a dream of mine to start getting into the design aspect of it all, and really create something magical!

What is your best beauty secret?
My best beauty secret… That’s so hard because I always spill my “secrets” all over YouTube, haha! One of my favorites though, is to get your blending sponge nice and damp and then pick up a ton of translucent powder, almost like you’re about to bake your face, and then pat that along your under eye area! The damp sponge will melt the powder into your skin and give you an airbrushed finish with no creases!!

Your looks are always so fun and colorful; where do you find your inspiration?
I find inspiration for my colorful looks from just about anything. I love looking through fashion magazines and drawing inspo for their color schemes, but honestly I could be looking at a box of Captain Crunch and be like, wow, those colors would make for an amazing eye look!

What do you consider your “signature” makeup look?
My signature makeup look is probably a warm toned smokey eye with a pop of shimmer, a strong highlight and contour, and a matte nude lip! Possibly boring, but it’s my go-to!

What are your top three Sigma products or brushes?
F80 Flat Top Kabuki – If you don’t own that brush yet, what are you doing honestly because it’s a GAME CHANGER.
Sigma Spa® Brush Cleaning Mat –  It makes cleaning your brushes so much more quick and easy!
SigMagic™ Brushampoo™ – I can’t get over how well it cleans my brushes – they look brand new!
